NewPro EC AQ SEAL is a unique 1K superhydrophobic and omniphobic sol-gel system in ethanol free of PFOS and PFOA.
NewPro EC AQ SEAL dries in minutes to thin, semi-transparent film with excellent anti-wetting properties against a variety of liquids including consumer beverages.
What does the term hydrophobic mean?
Hydrophobic is derived from ancient Greek and mean iliterally „water avoiding“. If a surface is extremely water-repellent, it is also called superhydrophobia.

What is an omniphobic coating?
is a surface treatment that repels both water and oily liquids and remains stable even at higher pressures and temperatures. This includes surfaces to which neither dirt nor graffiti adhere, which are easy to clean and from which liquids simply roll off.
Description and Application
NewPro EC AQ SEAL is composed from sol-gel nanospheres that forms a surface morphology capable of lowering the surface energy to extremely low values. As a result, surfaces coated with NewPro EC AQ SEAL show extremely high contact angles to liquids, for example to water of 140° and 120° to hexadecane.
Suggested applications are in conformal coatings to make electronic equipment and apparatus' watertight. Another application of NewPro EC AQ SEAL is as superhydrophobic and omniphobic repellent on textiles as yarn, cotton and suede leather.
Application NewPro EC AQ SEAL
- Spray the coating as such onto the substrate
- Or dip the substrate into the coating
- Let it dry at room temperature for a 2-3 hours
- Or dry with a hot air blower for 15 minutes
